Ode to Cube |
|
Sonnet for Estrada's class. Open-ended topic "Love"
Poets always write of lovely maidens,
But my love for you is just not the same.
A lifeless cube ne’er thought of as a friend.
You neither move, nor speak, nor know my name.
Not like the fair maiden and her warm breath;
There is no sweet sea breeze to kiss my cheek.
Nothing for me to miss upon your death.
Nothing that can comfort our future bleak.
But I was wrong; you don’t deserve my bane.
Silent, but when I asked, you acquiesced.
You led me, helped me, shielded me from pain.
I felt our love as I laid you to rest.
You saved me, my life is now in your debt.
But I burned you; I think back with regret.
